PROFILE:
Began playing trumpet in the fifth grade. Took a B.A. in Music Education at Moorehouse College, Masters degree in Jazz Studies at Georgia State, and a Degree in Music & Business at Atlanta Art Institute. Have been playing and performing on stage for 25 years. Highly trained in Jazz Proformance and Contemporary Music.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
1980 - Performed and recorded with the Great Joe Newman and Orchestra
1985 - Performed and recorded with the Jazz Crusader's under the leadership of Joe Sample and Wilton Felder. Was with that group from 1985-92. Recorded on the album, on MCA label. Title (Life in a modem world). Tour- United States. Europe- In the J.V.C. festival of Japan.
1992 - Played the solo part and featured in the Spike Lee Movie, Malcolm X, where I played opposite to Terrance Blanchard. Lionel Hampton played Solo Book. Toured United States and Europe from 1992-94. Was featured at the Lincoln center in New York with the Lionel Hampton Big Band.
Other artists and vocalists I performed with include Eddie Harris, Freddie Cole, Milt Jackson, Nancy Wilson, Bradford Marsalis, Larry Willis, Kenny Garrett, Don Bradon, and Betty Carter.
