Hans Mantel
Hans Mantel was born in Rotterdam and educated
at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the University of Utrecht. He has
been a professor in Madrid and Amsterdam, guest lecturer in the US and Europe,
presenter and producer for Dutch radio stations Classic FM, Jazz Radio and
Radio Netherlands International and principal jazz journalist for De Telegraaf.
But primarily Hans is a hard driving bassist, working around Europe and
touring the world recording and/or performing with such artists as George
Benson, Art Blakey, Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield, Barry Harris, Teddy
Edwards, Bobby Durham, Red Holloway, Herb Ellis, George Masso, Jon Eardly,
Philip Harper, Dan Barret, Jackie Terrason, Ravi Coltrane, Joshua Redman,
Frank Morgan, Jack McDuff, Roy Hargrove, Gregory Hutchinson, T.S. Monk, Steve
Turre, Slide Hampton, Wessel Anderson, Clark Terry, Stanley Turrentine, Ray
Bryant, Jim McNeely, Frank Foster, James Moody, Bennie Green, Marcus Printup,
Kenny Drew Jr., Clifford Jarvis, James Williams, and Bennie Wallace.
